The Team

Mario Kriek opened Dirtrider Motorcycles (“DR”), a pro off road quad and motorcycle shop in Cape Town in 2006 after many years’ of being a Yamaha Specialist for some of the biggest shops in the country. My passion and enthusiasm for all motorcycles started at a very young age. I did my apprenticeship at the massive Perry-Yamaha conglomerate in Durban in 1998 before becoming Workshop Manager for RBS Yamaha and Linex Yamaha thereafter.

In the last 10 years of owing DR we’’ve won many National’s and Regional’s in Junior Moto Cross and Quads, Senior Moto Cross and Quads, Super Motard and Enduro’s. We are proud to say that DR sponsored riders have been placed in the top 5 positions in the country.

We are actively involved in Adventure Riding Weekends, providing support and ensuring that the bikes are well prepared and serviced.

I started at Droomers Group after leaving school as a Cardex Clerk. Becoming a salesman was challenging due to the wide range of parts in stock. After 13 years, I moved to Freeman Yamaha for 5 years where I was involved in supporting a successful racing team.

I then joined Magson Marine which involved working with boats as well as bikes for 9 years.

Mario then invited me to join Dirtrider Motorcycles in 2006.

I started at Motor WP working on Audi & Porsche vehicles.I was then invited by the renowned Brian Hoskins to join Honda, thus starting my career with bikes, & then Kawasaki as a workshop manager.

After stints with a Honda/Suzuki outlet, Magson Marine, Water World & Helderberg Yamaha, I joined Mario & his team at Dirtrider Motorcycles.

My experience prior to joining Dirtrider Motorcycles therefore is: Qualified 1976; Can-AM (3yrs); Suzuki (3yrs); Honda (5yrs); Kawasaki (10yrs); Yamaha (12yrs).

As a young kid growing up I’ve always had a passion for off road motorcross bikes remembering my first ever experience on a 1981 CR80. Growing up in my teenage years I was fortunate to have experienced racing competitively including the Cape Town MX nations in the 125 High School class.
Through these years I taught myself how to work on my own bikes from basic servicing to changing the top end plus much more. After a horrific bush accident where I almost lost my leg I was off the bike for a number of years recovering and building up the courage to jump back on the bike. Well that didn’t take long and I was up and riding again. With many years of being involved with dirt bikes and the experience I’ve gained I’m fortunate to have joined up with Dirtrider Motorcycles assisting with customer services – workshop – accessories and events.

With Dirtrider’s extensive customer loyalty and workmanship I can positively look forward to a healthy relationship within the motocross community.

Our accumulated years of experience and winning results are guaranteed to give our clients peace of mind.
